This privacy policy covers all mobile applications published by Mike Cantrall, doing business as National Resource Labs (“NRL,” “we,” “us”), including the applications in the USNPW product line. It describes what information our apps handle, what third-party software embedded in the apps collects, and the choices available to you.
The short version
- Our apps have no accounts and collect no user-submitted data. You never enter personal information, and we operate no user database.
- The apps display content derived from U.S. National Park Service public data, fetched from our own servers. Those requests carry no user identity.
- Third-party software from Google bundled in the apps (advertising and maps SDKs) collects certain device data, described below.
Data our apps collect directly
None. Our apps do not ask for, store, or transmit your name, email address, precise location, photos, contacts, or any other personal information. When an app fetches park content from our servers, the request contains no account information or user identifiers, and we do not use these requests to identify individual users.
Data collected by bundled third-party software
Our apps include software development kits (SDKs) provided by Google. These SDKs collect and share certain data with Google, even in app versions where advertisements are not currently displayed, because the software ships inside the app.
Google Mobile Ads SDK
The Google Mobile Ads SDK collects the following data, which is shared with Google. All of it is encrypted in transit.
| Data | Purposes |
|---|---|
| Device or other IDs (advertising ID, app set ID) | Advertising or marketing, analytics, fraud prevention and security |
| Approximate location (derived from IP address) | Advertising or marketing, analytics, fraud prevention and security |
| App interactions | Advertising or marketing, analytics |
| Diagnostics | Analytics, fraud prevention and security |
Google's handling of this data is described in the Google Privacy Policy and in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services.
Google Maps SDK
Our apps display maps using the Google Maps SDK. Loading a map transmits device and IP address data to Google, governed by the Google Privacy Policy.
Advertising and your consent choices
Where legally required — including the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and certain U.S. states — the app shows Google's consent dialog (User Messaging Platform) before any ad-related data processing occurs. You can review or change your choices at any time from the “Privacy & Ad Settings” option inside the app. You can also manage Google's ad personalization at Google My Ad Center or reset your device's advertising ID in your device settings.
Data retention and deletion
Because our apps have no accounts and we store no user data on our servers, there is no NRL-held personal data to delete. Data collected by Google's SDKs is retained and deleted according to Google's data retention practices; requests concerning that data should be directed to Google through the links above.
Children
Our apps are not directed at children. The target audience is ages 13 and up, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Security
All data transmitted by our apps — both park content requests to our servers and SDK traffic to Google — is encrypted in transit using HTTPS.
